The Race

After attending a 1 AM Conclave, held at a secret location in The Bronx, over 100 endurance athletes, dressed as gang members from the iconic film, chase the Warriors Elite Team through the streets of NYC in the middle of the night. The race, which is unofficial, recreates the gang's escape route and takes runners through the neon-drenched streets of the Bronx, Harlem, Times Square and the Bowery before crossing over the Brooklyn Bridge and making our way to Coney Island, where the race finishes on the beach at dawn. Distances vary between 28-30 miles and the route is shared with participants before the race.

History

Steering Committee

The Race

The Warriors UltraRun was founded by Todd Aydelotte, an NYC ultrarunner and devoted fan of the film, who ran the route by himself in 2018. After press reports, ultrarunning fans of the Warriors from throughout the world joined him for the first official Warriors UltraRun, which was held on September 21st 2019 and won by Ramon Bermo (4:01), Dave Maloney (4:01) and Shaun Mills (4:50).

For 2020, Dave Maloney will Captain the Warriors Elite Team, who will be given a 10 minute head's start before being chased through NYC by ultrarunning Baseball Furies, Gramercy Riffs, Rogues, Lizzies, Hi-hats, Turnbull AC's, Orphans, Punks, Boppers, Saracens, The Jones Street Boys, Savage Huns and Moonrunners and all manner of gangs and racing teams from throughout the world.

The 2020 Warriors Ultra Steering Committee is a group of brilliant, bad-ass NYC ultrarunners who pool their talents to build and advance this unusual race, and ensure it stays true to the spirit of the film -- thanks to Dan Zimerman, Kate Strachnyi, Peter Schwing, Ntino Krampis, Kumi Shibata

and Anna Boozer.

Q+A"s

Are there aid stations?

No, and you don't need them. There are bodegas on every block and bathrooms

Then why am I paying $25?

Your money goes to beer, costs for the Conclave, race tech & marketing.

Is it safe?

You're running NYC in the dead of the night. But we had no issues in 2019 -- In July, sidewalks alive w/ partiers
